ISLAMABAD: Ayaz Sadiq, the speaker of the National Assembly, denied the chairmen of Standing Committees’ request for new cars, citing financial limitations and governmental directives.
The National Assembly sources claim that even though the committee heads already owned well-maintained cars, they had nevertheless asked for new ones.
Sadiq declined the proposal, stating that he could not accommodate their request due to existing budgetary constraints and a government order prohibiting the purchase of new cars in order to ease economic pressure.
According to sources, a number of committee chairs had expressed displeasure with the state and functionality of the cars that were provided to them.
