The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday formed a special bench to handle matters involving foreign Pakistanis under the foreign Property Act 2024.
The Deputy Registrar of the Islamabad High Court has issued a notification in this respect. The panel, chaired by Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, will consider cases and appeals submitted by Pakistanis living overseas.
The IHC Chief Justice has previously addressed a letter to session judges in the East and West requesting the establishment of abroad courts. He had also delegated authority to the sessions judges to nominate judges.
The IHC Registrar has written to the Secretary of Law and Justice requesting that a notification be issued for the formation of East and West Courts for Pakistanis living overseas.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for abroad Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain praised the IHC for forming a special bench to handle issues involving abroad Pakistanis.
In a statement published by the Ministry of abroad Pakistanis on Monday, Salik Hussain stated that the formation of a special bench will play an important role in settling abroad Pakistani property issues.
He went on to say that this bench will alleviate concerns for Pakistanis living overseas.
The Federal Minister stated that Pakistanis seeking legal guidance and advice from Pakistan were encountering several problems.
Chaudhary Salik Hussain stated that with the formation of a special bench, all legal concerns concerning Pakistanis living abroad will be resolved.
The Federal Minister disbanded the bench, which is required to complete hearings of cases within ninety days.
He complimented the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court for forming a special bench to hear abroad Pakistanis’ issues.
