LAHORE (APP): Six fugitives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), sought in terrorism, murder, attempted murder, robbery, and fraud crimes, were taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday.
According to an FIA spokeswoman, the arrests were the result of significant operations run by FIA’s NCB Interpol. The apprehended suspects were sought by Punjab Police for a number of criminal charges and were named as Sufyan Ali, Akasha Iqbal, Zohaib Shehzad, Abdul Latif, Muhammad Jaleel, and Muhammad Ramiz Ashraf.
While Zohaib Shahzad was implicated in a robbery case at Satrah police station, the accused Sufyan Ali was wanted in a 2022 Sialkot terrorism and attempted murder case filed at Wazirabad City police station.
The airport police station wanted fugitive Abdul Latif. Muhammad Jaleel, a nine-year fugitive, was wanted by Dera Ghazi Khan police in a robbery case, while Rahim Yar Khan was involved in a murder investigation. In connection with an attempted murder case, Muhammad Ramiz was wanted by the Sadiqabad police station in Rawalpindi. Akasha Iqbal, who was registered at the Civil Lines Police Station in Sialkot in 2023, is being charged with fraud.
In order to make the arrests easier, the FIA verified that red warnings were sent via NCB Interpol.
In order to turn them over to Punjab police, the fugitives were now being transported from the United Arab Emirates to Lahore Airport.
Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Abu Dhabi worked closely together to make these arrests possible, FIA officials stressed.
They reaffirmed that NCB Interpol tracks and captures fugitives worldwide around-the-clock using state-of-the-art technology.
A representative for the agency reiterated its dedication to bringing fugitives to justice and stressed that every resource at its disposal was being used to capture lawbreakers.
