Pakistan and Turkey sign various agreements to improve bilateral ties.

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan and Turkey signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), protocols, and cooperation agreements on Thursday to strengthen bilateral ties in a variety of sectors during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan watched the exchanging of agreements between the two parties.

PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan also signed the joint statement of the 7th High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) to strengthen Pakistan-Turkey’s strategic alliance.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat exchanged signed declarations on the MoU between the Export Credit Bank of Turkey and the Export Import Bank of Pakistan.

Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat exchanged papers containing the joint ministerial statement on cooperation in the verification of origin certificates used in trade, as well as an MoU on digitalizing the verification of origin certificates used in trade.

Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on industrial property cooperation.

Minister of Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Turkish Minister of Defence Yasar Guler signed an agreement to interchange military and civilian people for social and cultural reasons.

Khawaja Asif and Turkish Minister of Defence Yasar Guler also signed an MoU on collaboration in Air Force Electronic Warfare, as well as an MoU between the Secretariat of Defence Industries and Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence Production.

Similarly, Khawaja Asif and Turkish Minister of Defence Yasar Guler signed a pact for military health training and collaboration.

Another Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Pakistan’s Naval Research and Development Institute (NRDI) by DG NRDI Pakistan Navy, R/Admiral Javed Iqbal HI (M), and Director Turkish Aerospace Industries, Dr Mehmet Demiroglu.

Minister of Science and Technology Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in halal trade. Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Turkish Minister of Industries and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of Legal Metrology Infrastructure.

Furthermore, in the National Food Security and Research sector, the two parties inked a cooperation agreement to revise the Seed Protocol. The documents were exchanged by Minister of National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli.

Similarly, in the energy sector, the two sides inked a protocol to alter the hydrocarbon cooperation agreement. Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister for Energy, and Alparslan Bayraktar, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, exchanged documents.

The two ministers also exchanged paperwork for two memorandums of understanding on cooperation in the fields of energy transition and mining.
