(Web Desk) – The police in Haveli, Kahuta (Azad Jammu and Kashmir) detained Sessions Judge Raja Imtiaz Ahmad on Wednesday for illegally ordering the release of a drugs dealer in violation of a Supreme Court decision.

The Supreme Court of AJK, presided over by Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, condemned Judge Imtiaz to three days in jail for contempt of court.

On February 16, 2023, Judge Imtiaz of Haveli’s Anti-Narcotics Court discharged Raja Dilawar Khan, who had been arrested for carrying a huge quantity of heroin. This release occurred despite a clear Supreme Court ruling that rejected bail and ordered a trial decision within six months.

Dilawar, who was first denied bail by the lower, high, and supreme courts, left overseas immediately after being released. At the time, his appeal was still pending, and the Supreme Court had clearly commanded that any fresh bail petition be made only to the highest court.
Following these incidents, Judge Imtiaz was suspended a month ago by order of the Supreme Court, and an official investigation into his actions began.
