LAHORE (A.News)- President Donald Trump has levied reciprocal tariffs of 29% on Pakistan and over 180 other nations and territories.
In a historic moment for global trade, President Donald Trump has announced intentions to impose broad new import duties on all goods entering the United States. The US president stated that Pakistan levies a 58% tariff from the US.

According to the new US trade strategy, the US would slap 26% tariffs on India, 34% on China, 20% on the European Union, and 10% on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Afghanistan.

Donald Trump announced that his government will slap 37% tariffs on Bangladesh, 24% on Japan, 17% on Israel, and 10% on the United Kingdom, as well as a 25% extra tax on auto imports.

The White House has shared infographics on social media showing the effective tariff rates it claims other nations impose on American exports, including “currency manipulation and trade barriers.”

An adjacent column displays the new tariff rates that the United States will apply on each country or territory, including the European Union. These nations will likely face more than just retaliatory tariffs from the United States.

In addition to the broad country-by-country tariffs announced, Trump slapped a 10% baseline duty, virtually ensuring a charge on any nation that is not one of the more than 180 targeted.

The presidential order issued this afternoon states that “all articles imported into the customs territory of the United States shall be, consistent with law, subject to an additional ad valorem rate of duty of 10%,” unless otherwise stated.

Trump also retains the authority to raise this baseline rate “should U.S. manufacturing capacity and output continue to worsen.”

According to a White House information sheet, pharmaceutical supplies would be excluded from the reciprocal tariffs announced today.

However, Trump has not ruled out imposing taxes on pharmaceuticals in the near future.

Copper, semiconductors, timber, bullion, electricity, and some minerals not available in the United States are among the other items exempt from reciprocal duties, according to the data sheet. It also covers things that are already subject to Trump’s newly imposed tariffs, such as steel, aluminum, automobiles, and auto components.
