MUNICH (AP) — It’s possible that the Netherlands is peaking at the ideal moment.

After putting on by far its greatest performance at Euro 2024, the Dutch team defeated Romania 3-0 on Tuesday to advance to its first quarterfinal in the European Championship in sixteen years.

The Dutch advanced to their first quarterfinal in the competition since 2008 when Cody Gakpo broke the tie in the 20th minute and Donyell Malen, a replacement, added two goals in the closing minutes.

Coach Ronald Koeman stated, “I think the whole performance today was outstanding and that’s what we need to have a chance to continue in this tournament.”
