UNRWA reports ‘unbearable’ situation in Gaza.

GENEVA (AFP) — Gazans are forced to live in bombed-out structures or camp next to massive mounds of rubbish, a United Nations spokesperson said Friday, describing the troubled territory’s “unbearable” conditions.

Louise Wateridge of UNRWA, the UN organisation that assists Palestinian refugees, noted the “extremely dire” living circumstances in Gaza.

“It’s really unbearable,” she told journalists in Geneva via video hookup from central Gaza.

Wateridge, who returned to the area on Wednesday after four weeks away, claimed that the situation had “significantly deteriorated” during that period.

“Today, it has to be the worst it’s ever been. I don’t doubt that tomorrow again will be the worst it’s ever been,” she remarked.
