(Reuters) – Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, landed in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, according to the Kremlin, for discussions on regional security and defence as well as a number of bilateral meetings with officials from China and Turkey.

On July 3–4, in Astana, Kazakhstan, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a forum founded by China and Russia in 2001 to serve as a defender of security in the Eurasia area, will have its summit.

The Kremlin stated on its website that “the leaders of the SCO member countries will discuss the current state and prospects for further deepening multifaceted cooperation within the organisation and improving its activities.”
