(Web Desk) – The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) declared on Wednesday that giving the first wife the ability to dissolve her marriage if her husband remarries without her consent is un-Islamic.

It emphasized that any legal decision allowing such annulment defies Islamic beliefs. The CII session, led by Dr Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, had a meeting in which members discussed 19 agenda topics.

Four specialists from the Sindh Institute of Child and Neonatology presented a briefing on the construction of a human milk bank. They offered thorough replies to 33 questions posed by council members.

The council also determined that organ transplantation, particularly of the kidney and liver, is legal as long as the donor’s life is not jeopardized.

Premarital testing for thalassemia or other infectious disorders was agreed upon as an optional condition in the Nikahnama (marriage contract). According to Islamic law, the choice to marry is totally up to both parties.

The council emphasized that Zakat funds should be delivered to worthy persons without undue delay. However, if administrative processes create delays, these cash can be invested in profitable Islamic bank accounts. The government will be liable for paying anyone who suffers financial damages.

The meeting was attended by the following members: Dr Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Dr Abdul Ghafoor Rashid, Pir Khalid Sultan Qadri, Muhammad Jalaluddin, Farida Rahim, Justice (R) Altaf Ibrahim Husain Qureshi, and Dr Uzair Mahmood Al-Azhari.
