During a news conference before of the forthcoming series, Pakistan cricket captain Salman Ali Agha conceded that the national squad had fallen short of fan expectations.

“We haven’t played cricket according to our fans’ expectations, and they’re understandably not happy with us,” Agha said. “Our team is built around young players, but we’ve come here to win.”

The captain discussed pitch characteristics for the forthcoming matches, stating that while the surface seems to suit speed bowlers, spinners are expected to benefit as well. He indicated that the final playing eleven has still to be chosen.

Agha discussed the form of important players, namely pace combo Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Shaheen and Haris are doing better in T20s than in ODIs, he noted, adding that performance changes may hurt any bowler.

The skipper was concerned about the absence of Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman from the team. “We’ll feel Saim and Fakhar’s absence on the team. Both players have had outstanding performances for Pakistan,” Agha stated, expressing optimism that both will recover from their injuries and return to the squad soon.

Pakistan’s recent performances have sparked criticism from fans and cricket commentators alike, with pressure increasing on both players and management to achieve better outcomes in forthcoming matches. The team’s training method looks to be centered on regaining confidence and introducing newer players into the group ahead of important events later this year.
