LAHORE—On Friday, Samiullah Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawab was chosen to lead the Punjab Assembly’s Privilege Committee.

Samiullah Khan was declared the winner after nine members cast ballots in his favor, according to Punjab Assembly Secretary Ch Amer Habib.

Khan was elected with a simple majority of the committee’s 17 members, making up the privilege committee.

Mian Shahid Hussain, MPAs Malik Ahmad Saeed, Nawaz Chohan, Malik Arshad, Rana Munawar Ghaus, Rana Manan, Bilal Yamin, and Rais Nabeel voted for him.

The opposition did not participate in the privilege committee chairman election.
