NEW YORK (AP) — Robert Towne, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Shampoo,” “The Last Detail,” and other critically acclaimed movies, has passed away. His work on “Chinatown” established the genre and contributed to the definition of the jaded charm of his home Los Angeles. He was eighty-nine.
Publicist Carri McClure reported that Towne passed away on Monday at his Los Angeles home, accompanied by his family. Regarding the reason of the death, she remained silent.
