RAWALPINDI – Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the chairman of the Awami Muslim League and a former federal minister, has expressed concern over rising electricity rates.
He has now got a gas bill of Rs100,000. Previously, he received a Rs168,000 electricity bill. He presented both utility bills to the reporters.
Sheikh Rashid informed the media a few days ago that he has no family and does not use air conditioning, yet the power company handed him an electrical bill for Rs168,000. His tenants had fled their establishments due to exorbitant electrical expenses, he explained.
He said that households in his area paid between Rs6,000 and Rs8,000 for gas, whilst his bill was Rs100,000.
