AFP(GUWAHATI) – At least four people have died as a result of severe floods caused by torrential rains in northeastern India, according to government disaster officials on Wednesday.
Government data indicate that floods have affected over a million people.
Every year, the monsoon rains bring about immense harm, but according to experts, climate change is altering weather patterns and causing a rise in extreme weather occurrences.
38 people have died in the northeastern state of Assam, according to disaster officials, since the area was hit by strong rains in mid-May, which caused landslides and flooding.
