LAHORE – The Lahore High Court deferred the hearing of petitions against the refusal of physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday without holding any proceedings.
A two-member LHC panel led by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi had to hear Dr Rashid’s petitions against the refusal of physical remand in connection with the May 9 riots and arson proceedings.
Due to the absence of one of the bench members, the court deferred the hearing of the pleas without advancing. The two-member bench’s cause list was canceled.
On Saturday, PTI officials Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Ejaz Chaudhary were sentenced to prison in the May 9 charges at Lahore’s anti-terrorism court.
Ejaz Chaudhary and Mehmoodur Rasheed are being held physically while Dr. Yasmin Rashid and others have already been ordered to remain in custody till September 5. The three leaders were then sent to custody until September 5.
