Two tracking opinion surveys released on Saturday show that the People’s Party (PP), a conservative opposition party in Spain, is now leading the Socialists (PSOE), the party currently in power under Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, but is still far from securing a clear majority in this month’s general election.
After the election on July 23, the PP would very definitely need to create an alliance with the far-right Vox party in order to win the 350 seats in the lower house of parliament required to establish a government.
The PP might win 37.2% of the vote, or 152 seats, according to a tracking poll conducted by GAD3 for ABC, a right-wing daily, while the PSOE would only receive 28.5% of the vote and 115 seats.
