LAHORE (Web Desk) – Imran Khan, the party’s leader, responded to the events as the PTI suffered significant losses on Tuesday when prominent figures Shireen Mazari and Fayyazul Hassan Chohan announced their departure from the party.

“We had all heard about forced marriages in Pakistan, but for PTI a new phenomenon has emerged, forced divorces,” he said on Twitter.

Also saying, “Wondering where have all the human rights organisations in the country disappeared,” he encouraged the human rights organisations to take note of the development.

In a move that seemed natural given the politics of the nation, Ms. Mazari, Mr. Chohan, and more than a dozen other party officials already bid farewell to the party. However, Mr. Khan felt compelled to speak after hearing the statements of important party figures.

Following the arrest of former premier Imran Khan on May 9 of last year, Ms. Mazari stated she denounced the violence that broke out. She said that her family came first.

In the meanwhile, Mr. Chohan left the room while voicing a long list of grievances and denouncing the party’s “politics of violence”.

He previously said, “People are not leaving the party on their own, they are being forced to do so, and that too at gunpoint,” when he appeared before the ATC in Islamabad.

He insisted, nevertheless, that he was unconcerned by the fact that numerous influential PTI figures had just announced their resignations, claiming that “parties never die down like that; they are weeded out like the [ruling coalition] PDM is eroding, the way their vote bank is depleting.”

He said, “I am just concerned about the employees, particularly the ladies.
