Wildfires broke out late Wednesday in the Sulaiman Range woods in Dera Ismail Khan, according to A News, which cited local sources.

According to the reports, the fire has spread to various sites, posing a threat to the region’s valuable flora, with flames visible at four distinct locations along the mountain’s base.
An official from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department stated earlier this year that 249 fires occurred in the province during the first half of last year, causing around 1,918 hectares of forest area to be damaged.

He stated that fires were recorded on both public and private facilities due to carelessness, inadvertent sparks, and natural forces such as lightning, among other things.

The recent DI Khan fire may be observed in the settlement of Tajri, north of the mountain, and in the Almar Kalan valley, south of another mountain.

The wildfire is so strong that flames can be seen from the Daraainda Tehsil Headquarters. According to reports, the flame has expanded swiftly across many km in the last several hours.

As the fire rages on and devastates the beautiful woodland scenery, locals are concerned about the possible harm to precious trees in the vicinity, including olive and pine.
