DUNEDIN (A News) – Pakistan’s top order continued to struggle against New Zealand in the second T20 encounter played on Tuesday.
Hassan Nawaz was out for the second time in a row, while Mohammad Haris scored only 11 runs before being removed.
Middle-order batsman Irfan Khan Niazi also failed to make an impression, scoring only 11, while Khushdil Shah was bowled for two runs.
Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Due to rain, the match has been truncated to 15 overs. Pakistan has made a change to the lineup that played the opening T20. Haris Rauf has been added to the team in place of Abrar Ahmed.
New Zealand won the first match of the series by nine wickets with 59 balls remaining. Pakistan will probably be anxious to square the series. Expectations are high as both sides work to fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
However, New Zealand is determined to continue their winning streak and expand their advantage in the five-match series. Their bowlers, headed by Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy, were in top form in the first game, annihilating Pakistan’s faltering batting order with merciless efficiency.
The Kiwis will want to maintain that pace because they know that victory here would put them in a good position to win the series. They are missing a few important players in this series, but it won’t matter much against the visitors at home following a strong performance in the first match and with all of the momentum behind them.
Tim Seifert and Finn Allen produced a fantastic start to the innings with the bat in the first match, and the Kiwis will be hoping they can replicate that performance.
Pakistan’s preparations for this match have been affected by off-field issues. Khushdil Shah was penalized for clashing with New Zealand’s Zakary Foulkes during the first T20I.
Even though no one was badly injured, the event was another sign of the growing fear on the pitch. Pakistan were bowled out for 91 runs in Christchurch, a shocking low that signaled a serious decrease in their T20I batting ability.
