PARIS (Reuters) — Argentina defeated Iraq 3-1 in Lyon, and Spain defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 in Bordeaux on Saturday, the second day of the men’s Olympic soccer event.

Argentina recovered from their devastating opening loss to Morocco and increased their chances of moving to the next round by finishing first in Group B on goal difference.

Debutants The Dominican Republic’s first Olympic goal was insufficient to stop the Spaniards, who scored twice in the second half to advance to the quarterfinals with their second Group C win.
