The caretaker system was one of the topics that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari discussed during their meeting in Lahore.
The likelihood of selecting a politician to serve as caretaker prime minister and head of the interim administration rather than a bureaucrat was considered during the discussion between the two seasoned leaders.
Sources claim that both leaders engaged in-depth discussions before deciding when the current assembly’s term will finish. The Prime Minister showed optimism in winning over additional allies when Asif Ali Zardari suggested ending the present assembly’ terms in the second week of August.
