On Saturday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) scheduled a hearing on former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s complaint over the lack of facilities in jail.

On July 10, Justice Amjad Rafiq of the LHC will hear the petition in which the Punjab caretaker administration and others have been named respondents.

Elahi insisted that as a former CM, he had the right to demand better conditions in jail, and that it was a basic human right to be provided with basic necessities. He asked the court to provide him with jail facilities and to form an accountable commission for visits to his cell.
