The contentious separate negotiations over the building of a maintenance centre in Poland for Leopard tanks damaged in Ukraine are delaying an agreement on extending the deployment of three German air defence units to Poland.

“Timing is everything… In order for us to know how to plan, we think the negotiations (on the maintenance hub) should, if at all possible, be concluded within the next 10 days, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Monday.

Pistorius was speaking following discussions with Mariusz Blaszczak, his Polish equivalent, in the Polish town of Zamosc.
