On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan conducted discussions on a variety of topics pertaining to their countries’ ties as well as regional and global concerns and came to an agreement to strengthen bilateral trade and military cooperation with a particular focus on energy.

In a later joint news conference, they made reference to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict when the prime minister of Pakistan emphasised that Pakistan recognised the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

He urged tight cooperation between the two nations to address the issues at hand and pointed out that the spike in commodity prices on the global market was a result of the Russia-Ukraine war.
