Following an improvement in the law and order situation, Islamabad and the Punjab administration decided to end the military presence on Saturday.
In the public interest, the Chief Commissioner’s office wrote to the Ministry of Interior, requesting that notifications of military deployments issued on May 10 be removed.
According to the letter, the military were stationed in Islamabad to preserve peace and stability, but the security situation is already enough, thus there is no need for the troops to stay any longer. Similarly, the Punjab government has written to the Ministry of Interior, requesting that the army be evacuated immediately.
