(Reuters) – NEW ZEALAND – At least six people were killed in a fire at a multi-story hostel in Wellington, New Zealand, on Tuesday, and police have cautioned that the number might rise.

“There are still a number of people unaccounted for,” said Fire and Emergency Services New Zealand (FENZ), “but this number, along with the number of deaths, cannot be confirmed at this time.”

Police expect the death toll to be less than ten, and Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said on the morning television show AM that six people had died.
