ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly was informed on Monday that according to a newly-passed section of the Election Act Section 103, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will not be employed in the next general elections.

In a written response to a query, the house was informed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had reviewed several EVM machines and would shortly begin pilot testing.

In response to another query, it was revealed that 397 people were appointed to the ECP between 2018 and 2021. According to the breakdown, 18 people were hired in 2018, 188 in 2019, 55 in 2020, and 136 in 2021.
