The USEFP has organized exchange programs for almost 9,000 Pakistanis and approximately 1,000 Americans.
(Web Desk) – The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has announced that the Fulbright Student Program for 2027 is now accepting applications. Interested candidates must apply through the USEFP website by April 1, 2026.
Established in 1950 as a partnership between the US and Pakistani governments, the USEFP has enabled exchange programs for almost 9,000 Pakistanis and approximately 1,000 Americans. The Fulbright grant provides tuition, living expenses, insurance, and airfare for graduate study in the United States.
The program considers a broad notion of excellence, including academic performance, test scores, leadership potential, and a desire to contribute to Pakistan’s progress. The fellowship, funded jointly by the US and Pakistani governments, is accessible to students from various areas, with a focus on science, technology, artificial intelligence, commerce, economics, and natural resource management. Clinical medicine is prohibited, but non-clinical public health uses are permitted.
Applications can be submitted via the official portal at www.usefp.org
US Embassy Islamabad’s Director of Public Engagement Heidi Smith emphasized the program’s long-term significance, stating, “The Fulbright Program is one of the United States’ most enduring exchange initiatives.” It supports Pakistan’s future generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. Fulbright alumni from Pakistan are reshaping communities and tackling key issues.”
She went on: “Cultural and educational exchanges are vital in promoting shared prosperity, particularly as the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence.”
Since 2005, more than 3,000 Pakistani students have earned Fulbright grants for graduate study in the United States. Alumni continue to interact with American academic institutions, corporations, and technological hubs, demonstrating US competence and improving the US-Pakistan relationship.
USEFP Executive Director Dr. Peter Moran urged students across the country to apply, noting, “For 75 years, the Fulbright Program in Pakistan has nurtured talent and fostered connections with US institutions known for academic excellence and research opportunities.” These collaborations address global concerns while promoting wealth for both countries.”
