South Africa said on Saturday that its US ambassador has been given 72 hours to depart the country following his expulsion by Washington.

Ebrahim Rasool “was informed by the State Department yesterday that he had 72 hours to leave,” the South African foreign ministry told AFP.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Friday that Rasool was “no longer welcome” in the United States, calling him a “race-baiting politician who hates America and hates @POTUS,” referring to Trump by his White House X account name.
