(Web Desk) – The people of India-occupied Kashmir have expressed their outrage and disgust over a Ramadan fashion exhibition.

Religious leaders, political authorities, and members of the general public all criticised the Gulmarg program.

The event included models strolling the runway in the gorgeous ski town wearing bright clothes, with some models clad scantily.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah voiced severe dissatisfaction, calling it a flagrant violation for Kashmiri customs, particularly during Ramadan.

He claimed that the photographs and videos spreading online show a profound disrespect for the region’s cultural and religious traditions.

In reaction to the scandal, he has launched a high-level inquiry and requested a report within 24 hours.

He further warned that the event organizers will face severe consequences.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a prominent religious leader and the chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, also criticized the fashion show.

He referred to it as humiliating and immoral. He said that such an event violated Kashmir’s deep-rooted customs.

Farooq said that those guilty must be held accountable for ignoring religious and cultural sensibilities.

The indignation immediately rippled throughout social media, with platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram inundated with condemnation.

Many people criticized the administration of encouraging Western ideas at the detriment of Kashmiri culture.

Some people advocated for rapid action against those responsible, while others emphasized the need of protecting Kashmiri culture from outside influences.

The event’s organizers, fashion designers Shivan and Narresh, have subsequently apologized.

In a social media message, they apologized for any disrespect caused by the show’s schedule.

Shivan and Narresh, a premium company that specializes in holiday apparel, issued a statement expressing its heartfelt remorse for the harm caused by the Gulmarg tragedy.
