Karachi (Web Desk) – On Thursday, Pakistan’s anti-polio programme announced the detection of another poliovirus case from last year, bringing the total number of cases detected in 2024 to 73.

The National Institute of Health’s Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication verified the 73rd case, which occurred in a youngster from Thatta area.

“The onset of this case was on December 10, 2024,” the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme stated. “This is the first polio case from Thatta for 2024.”

According to the program, 27 instances were recorded in 2024 from Balochistan, 22 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 22 from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
