LAHORE – Lahore witnessed the greatest rainfall in 44 years today (Thursday), causing floods in low-lying regions.
The Punjab government declared a rain emergency in Lahore.
According to statistics, the airport received a stunning 337mm of rainfall. Nishtar Town received 227mm of rain, followed by Gulshan-e-Ravi with 210mm, Lakhsmi Chowk with 191mm, Upper Mall with 182mm, Tajpura with 180mm, and Mughalpura with 173mm.
Downpours in various regions saturated the provincial capital’s roads and streets, causing vehicles to struggle to complete their daily tasks.
Rain caused power outages in sections of Lahore, as dozens of feeders from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped.
