Calls for vengeance at Iran’s burial for Hamas leader Haniyeh.

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iran staged mourning processions on Thursday, with cries for vengeance following the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in an Israeli-claimed strike.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Islamic republic’s supreme leader, led prayers for Haniyeh ahead of his burial in Qatar, having previously warned “harsh punishment” for his execution.

Thousands of mourners carrying Haniyeh posters and Palestinian flags gathered at Tehran University before a parade, according to an AFP correspondent.
