ISLAMABAD: In an effort to appease Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), which is holding sit-ins throughout Islamabad and Rawalpindi in protest of the high electricity bills, the government extended an olive branch to the group on Friday.

Attaullah Tarar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and federal minister Amir Muqam spoke at a news conference and asked the JI to work with the government to steer the nation out of challenges.

“The JI’s insistence on moving towards Islamabad is beyond comprehension,” Tarar remarked. “The JI was only permitted to organize its rally or sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi.”

The minister stated that in order to address their issues, the government is prepared to meet with JI Emir Hafiz Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and his group.
