The KPK Assembly will hold its debut session on February 28.

PESHAWAR ( A News) – Governor Haji Ghulam Ali has called the inaugural Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly session on February 28, according to a statement from the assembly office.

According to the announcement, the KPK assembly will meet on February 28 at 11 a.m.

It stated that parliamentarians’ oaths will be conducted in accordance with Article 65 of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Constitution.

According to the results released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), PTI-backed independent candidates won 97 seats in the general election on February 8.

Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, appointed Ali Amin Gandapur as chief minister of KP and Aqibullah Khan as speaker of the Provincial Assembly.

In order to win reserved seats, the PTI said that its independent candidates will join the Sunni Ittehad Council to establish administrations at the national level as well as in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PTI candidates ran as independents when the Supreme Court upheld the election supervisor’s decision, calling its intra-party polling “unconstitutional” and rescinding its claim to the electoral symbol of ‘bat’.

Meanwhile, the Awami National Party has planned a demonstration outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the day of its first session.
