LAHORE – Dr Yasmin Rashid, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former provincial health minister, chastised the PML-N on Wednesday, demanding its leaders to be held accountable for their actions during the general elections.
Speaking outside the Lahore anti-terrorism court, she accused the PML-N of plundering public funds and seeking to steal the public mandate through rigging.
She urged the PML-N to follow the popular mandate, pointing out that the nation voted for PTI-backed independent candidates on February 8.
She warned the successful PTI-backed independent candidates from joining any other party or establishing partnerships. She made it clear that if they deceived the voters, the nation would not forget or forgive them.
Dr. Rashid also praised the party’s devoted and ardent followers, who voted for it despite fear and injustice.
She cited hurdles such as the removal of the electoral emblem, limits on election campaigns, and different forms of hindrance to the PTI’s agenda. Despite these challenges, she stated, the people made an effort to identify the candidates’ electoral emblems and vote for the PTI.
She congratulated the PTI personnel who triumphed despite encountering challenges both inside and outside the prisons.
