On Saturday, a European-built orbiting satellite was launched into space from Florida with the goal of shedding new light on the mysterious dark energy and dark matter phenomena, which, according to physicists, make up 95% of the known universe.
The “Euclid” telescope, named after the “father of geometry” in ancient Greece, was launched into space in the cargo bay of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at approximately 11 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT).
