The hearing on the ECP review petition has been postponed by the Supreme Court

On Monday, the Pakistani Supreme Court postponed the review appeal of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on its April 4 order to hold polls in Punjab on May 14.

A three-person panel headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial took up the matter. Justices Ijazul Ahsan and Muneeb Akhtar make up the bench.

Sujeel Swati, an attorney representing the ECP, presented his case in support of the plea. Both the federal and interim Punjab governments replied.

The ECP submitted a petition for reconsideration of the Supreme Court’s ruling on April 4 on May 3.
