Today is May 14, the day the Supreme Court ordered that elections be held in Punjab. However, the Supreme Court’s decision on Punjab elections could not be executed.
The elections did not take place, and the Supreme Court’s rulings were not carried out. The Election Commission said that it had finished preparations but was unable to proceed due to a lack of funding. Political parties also couldn’t agree on holding polls exclusively in Punjab.
Because of the uncertainty, the election campaign was called off before it had began, and the PML-N did not give tickets to the candidates. According to the ruling parties, the country’s existence depends on dealing with the crisis collaboratively and resolving concerns via dialogue.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday scheduled a hearing on Monday (May 15) for the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) petition seeking a review of the former’s decision to hold elections in Punjab on May 14.
