Parvez Elahi’s bail request for failing to appear in the police attack case is rejected by the ATC.

A bail appeal submitted by Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a case involving an attack on police officers was dismissed by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Thursday.

In his ruling, ATC Judge Ijaz Ahmed Buttar stated that the petitioner’s appearance before the court was required in order to get temporary release. Additionally, he denied a motion for Mr. Elahi to be excused from appearing in court.

The PTI leader and others were charged last month at Lahore’s Ghalib Market Police Station with assaulting police officers with rocks, batons, and petrol bombs during an anti-corruption official raid at his home to arrest him.

An employee of the Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) filed a complaint alleging violations of Sections 7 and 324 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.

According to the FIR, 40 to 50 persons who were present inside Mr. Elahi’s home used violence and threw stones. In order to help the PTI president flee the area, it was also claimed that petrol bombs were thrown at the police.
