The APNS, CPNE, PFUJ, PBA, and AEMEND, as part of the media Joint Action Committee, issued a statement on Sunday emphatically rejecting the draconian amendment to the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA), calling it a clear attempt to stifle media independence, freedom of speech, and dissenting voices.

The statement continued, “All media organisations will use all legal measures at their disposal to reject any attempt to limit the media’s independence and right to speak out against any attempt to limit freedom of expression as guaranteed by the constitution.”
