BANGKOK (AP) — As Trump’s recent tariff rises rocked international commerce and markets, nations and sectors were rushing to react on Friday.

In response to the U.S. imposing 34% tariffs on Chinese goods, China said that it will start imposing 34% tariffs on all U.S. imports on April 10.

In his “Liberation Day” declaration of reciprocal tariffs, Trump authorized 32% duties, and Taiwan’s president pledged to protect industries most at risk.

Vietnam announced a trade visit by its deputy prime minister to the United States. Some, like the chairman of the European Commission of the EU, have promised to strengthen the free trade rules book while vowing to fight back. Others expressed a desire to discuss relief with the Trump administration.
