DHAKA (Web Desk): Mahmud Ullah, a seasoned player for Bangladesh, has announced his retirement from international cricket after 239 One-Day Internationals, having amassed 5,689 runs and claimed 82 wickets.
The 39-year-old has now said goodbye to his ODI career after ending his Test and T20I careers in 2021 and 2024, respectively. In their group-stage match against New Zealand in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, he made his final appearance for Bangladesh.
In a social media post, Mahmud Ullah stated, “I have decided to retire from international cricket.”
“I would like to thank all of my teammates, coaches and especially my fans who has always supported me.”
“I want to express my gratitude to my parents, my in-laws, especially my father-in-law, and most significantly, my brother Emdad Ullah, who has supported and guided me continuously since I was a young child.
“Lastly, I would want to express my gratitude to my wife and children, who have always been there for me.
“Even if things don’t always finish well, you accept it and go on. “Best wishes to Bangladesh cricket and my team,” he continued.
In ODIs for Bangladesh, Mahmud Ullah ranks fourth in terms of appearances and runs, after Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim.
His Men’s Cricket World Cup century against England in the 2015 tournament, which led to a historic victory, is still regarded as one of his most memorable performances for Bangladesh.
