The United States has issued a new travel advise for Pakistan, encouraging American residents to rethink visiting the country due to continued security concerns, including terrorism and the possibility of armed conflict.

The US State Department issued a statement warning that violent extremist organizations continue to plan attacks, notably in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The advice stressed that terrorists can strike with little or no warning, targeting a variety of venues including transportation hubs, retail malls, military installations, airports, universities, and places of worship.

The advice also noted that US government officials stationed in Pakistan are not permitted to attend most big events owing to the increased danger.

While noting that big cities like as Islamabad have more solid security infrastructure, the report warned that Pakistan’s security situation is unstable and might change quickly.

The warning comes amid ongoing debate in the United States over future travel restrictions.

According to Reuters, a new travel restriction under study by the Trump administration could soon bar people from Pakistan and Afghanistan from entering the United States. This comes after a more comprehensive examination of countries’ security and screening procedures.

In addition, about 200,000 Afghans who have been authorized for US resettlement or have outstanding visa applications face uncertainty. Many are trapped in Pakistan, along with refugees from 90 other countries, following President Trump’s January 20th order imposing a 90-day ban on refugee admissions and foreign funding that pays for their transit.
