LAHORE (ANews) – Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has reached a historic milestone by scoring 4,000 runs in Test cricket.

The right-hander attained this milestone during the first Test against South Africa. Babar Azam needed only three runs to reach 4,000 in Test cricket, which he accomplished on the opening day of the match against Protease. However, he was removed after scoring four runs.

He required 56 Test innings to accomplish this milestone. Babar Azam is the third player in the world and the only Pakistani hitter to have scored 4,000 runs in Test, ODI, and T20I cricket.

Meanwhile, Pakistan were bowled out for 211 on Friday, with 13 wickets falling on the first day of the Test match.

After being sent into bat, the tourists scored 211 all out in 57.3 overs, thanks to a half-century from Kamran Ghulam.

In his third Test, Kamran, a right-hand hitter from Upper Dir, scored 54 off 71 balls, including eight fours and a six.
This was Kamran’s first Test half-century, coming after he achieved his first Test century against England at home.

Kamran and white-ball skipper Mohammad Rizwan formed an 81-run fifth-wicket partnership (27, 62 balls, 2 fours). All-rounder Aamir Jamal (28, 27b, 4x4s) was another important performer with the bat.

For South Africa, Dane Paterson, in his seventh Test, took his second five-wicket haul and finished with scores of 16-4-61-5. Corbin Bosch, a debutant and quick bowler, collected four wickets.

Tony de Zorzi (2, 8b) and Ryan Rickelton (8, 10b, 2x4s) were both bowled out by Khurram Shahzad in the first seven overs. Mohammad Abbas, making his Test comeback after more than three years, bowled Tristan Stubbs leg-before wicket for nine in the 16th over.
