Reuters, Singapore The Singapore Navy announced on Friday that it has rescued crew members from two huge oil tankers that had caught fire approximately 55 kilometers (34 miles) northeast of the Singaporean island of Pedra Branca, near the world’s largest refueling port.

The tankers Hafnia Nile, flying the flag of Singapore, and Ceres I, the flag of Sao Tome and Principe, were reported to be on fire on Friday at 6:15 am (2215 GMT), according to a statement made earlier by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

The fires’ origin was unclear.

The Singapore Navy reported on social media that the personnel had been rescued and that the frigate RSS Supreme was offering medical support. It did not provide information right away.
