ISLAMABAD – On Tuesday (today), the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will present his appeals against his sentencing in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield cases to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

A division bench made up of Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Chief Justice Aamir Farooq will hear a personal appearance from Nawaz Sharif.

A day earlier, the Islamabad police chief was asked to provide proper security measures in a circular issued by the IHC Registrar’s Office.

The matter will be heard in courtroom number one, according the circular. The Registrar’s Office will only grant security passes to attorneys and media so they may access the courtroom.

The circular further said that just 30 journalists would be permitted entry into the courtroom.

Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister, filed petitions on Thursday asking the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to reinstate his appeals against his conviction in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield cases.
