ISLAMABAD – In light of the escalating crackdown on individuals implicated in terrorism, criminality, and the smuggling of US dollars, sugar, and fertilizer, the caretaker government has decided to deport 1.1 million Afghan nationals who are residing illegally in Pakistan.
According to sources, the federal cabinet has given its approval to the summary that the interior ministry put out about the issue of circulation.
The proposal calls for the first step of expelling the two groups of Afghans—illegal residents and those whose visas have not been renewed. The following two phases would be followed by those with Afghan nationality and residency cards.
According to reports, the strategy was developed after extensive consultation with all parties involved, including the Afghan government.
The development occurs at the same time as Afghan citizens living illegally in Pakistan are discovered to be participating in terrorist attacks as well as supporting and aiding those responsible for the country’s terrorism.
Additionally, they are in charge of the transnational smuggling of dollars, sugar, and fertilizer. This practice has severely hurt Pakistan’s economy by devaluing the currency and causing a shortage of these two essential goods, which led to an increase in prices.
According to reports, their presence in Pakistan poses a severe danger to the security of the nation. They also revealed that when the US withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021, almost 0.4 million Afghans infiltrated Pakistan illegally.
