On Thursday, a car bomb near the Sayeda Zeinab shrine city south of Damascus, Syria, detonated, killing six people and injuring many more, according to Syrian state media.

One day before the solemn holiday of Ashura, explosives hidden in a cab exploded, according to state media and the interior ministry.

Syrian Health Minister Hassan al-Ghabash also said that 26 victims of the blast in the Sayida Zeinab neighbourhood were being treated at several hospitals, according to state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV and the state news agency. Twenty more, he claimed, either received on-site care or were released.
